You might be asking yourself "Why would I want digital photographs for my special event?". By doing so, you've entered yourself into the great battle that divides photographers and photophiles. Don't worry, I'll arm you with the basics.
Today's professional digital cameras offer superb image clarity and color and are finally on the same level as traditional film cameras. In addition to their comparable quality to film prints, "digital negatives" (see: images files) can be color-corrected, retouched and cropped through much simpler processes than standard film.
A single professional flash card the size of a matchbook can can hold anywhere from 250 to 2000 pictures- That's the equivalent of up to 84 rolls of film! A tried and true photographer's rule is "Shoot more, get better pictures." Digital cameras not only allow photographers to take many more pictures throughout the day and do away with time-wasting reloads, but they also eliminate the need to spend money on film and developing costs.
I know what you're thinking. You've seen the digital prints you get from your photo printer, the machine at the local pharmacy, or one of those online sites and you've been unsatisfied with the quality of the photo. After all, digital prints don't look anywhere near as good as real photographs, right?
Wrong! Many printed digital photographs look less than professional (to say the least) due to the type of transfer process used to get the image on the paper. Photo printers do just that; they PRINT on photo-like paper the way you would print any other document.
Here's where we change it up. I utilize a service that uses a state-of-the-art process to transfer your digital images onto film, which is then developed like an ordinary photograph! The process uses Fuji Crystal Archival Paper which is durable, fade-resistant and has an undeniably professional look and feel. Your photos look the same (or better) and your negatives will be on CD rather than tucked in an envelope. That's about it.
